How do I revoke screen timeout permissions for Amazon Shopping app?

I woke up to a nearly dead phone battery because the Amazon Shopping app had managed to keep the screen on ALL NIGHT:

I confirmed this wasn't some kind of glitch today after restarting the phone and leaving the Amazon Shopping app on, and sure enough, the screen does not sleep. This is completely unnecessary, highly annoying, and puts wholly unnecessary wear and tear on both the OLED screen and glued-in battery.

There does not seem to be a line item in App Permissions related to screen timeout, and I can find nothing relevant in the app's own settings. Short of just making sure the the phone is NEVER left with this particular app on, can I stop this from happening? The normal screen timeout is fine and there's zero reason for Amazon Shopping to have an exception to it

When you're done using the app, close it completely, by swiping up from the bottom of the screen halfway slowly with your finger and hold it there, to bring up the app switcher. This will show you all the apps you have had open. Then swipe up any app you don't want running in the background, such as the Amazon Shopping App.

As to finding a setting to change the behavior of the app, none exists. Apple doesn't own the Amazon app. Amazon does, and this is evidently how they coded it to operate. Apple can't change how a 3rd party app operates.

Thanks....it only seems to keep the screen awake while foregrounded, so I'm not too concerned about it running in the background. My worry is more that I accidentally leave it up when I set my phone down, as apparently happened last night.

This is something that needs user control and it's surprising Apple hasn't provided it, given how locked down most of iOS is. Android has specific permissions for this on a per-app basis and requires that the user approve granting special privileges. So far The only other apps I know that are capable of keeping the screen awake at least have the good sense to make it an option in their own settings, so I guess I will submit the feature request to Amazon (for them to ignore)

This is dumb.
