USB does not appear in Finder or Disk Utility

I came to ask if someone knows of a solution for USB's not being seen. After searching through questions and articles and not finding. As I was typing it came to mind to try an adaptor.

As it turned out, the solution was to use a USB A - C adaptor plugged directly into MacBook, rather than going through a USB 3.0 Hub (splitter).

Briefly, the machine is 2022 Air M2, updated to Sonoma 14.5. (Arrived today)

The stick now working is USB 3.0, 32GB.

Perhaps is worth noting that Mac could read a USB 2.0, 16GB stick from the HUB splitter, but could not see any of the 32GB sticks (pack of 3). I have no clue why.

Anyway, am relieved to have found a solution and perhaps this helps someone else.

Some tips to help you out in the future:

In the Finder, when you want to find hidden files and folders, simply press Command + Shift + Period (.) to unhide/hide.

This can be helpful in places where Disk Utility won’t do.

As you know, Disk Utility is limited to showing drives.

As for USB drives (I can only recommend a dual drive) if you want the freedom of avoiding those unreliable hubs.
