Crossy Road Castle is available on any iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS, or visionOS device which supports Apple Arcade. Crossplay is supported between all users on these Apple devices.

Crossy Road Castle for console is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Crossplay is supported between all users on these console devices.

Crossy Road Castle was launched exclusively on Apple Arcade February 2020. The title will be coming to consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S) from September 2024. We’d love to bring the title to other platforms, however, we’re not able to confirm specific details at this stage.

The SFX and music mute buttons have now been separated for your listening pleasure! To change these settings on Apple Arcade, select the Settings cog button in the top right corner. To change these settings on console, you can navigate to the Settings menu from the home screen or adjust the volume in the pause menu.

Each completed room, including a boss room, gives you points based on it's difficulty rating.

On the end sequence, your accomplishments will be stacked and tallied. Trophies are awarded for reaching score milestones (bronze for passing 250 points, silver for passing 750 points, and gold for passing 1500 points).

Crossy Road Castle is best enjoyed with a controller, especially when playing local multiplayer mode. You can use any supported controller to connect up to 4 players to your device.

The following controllers are currently supported for Apple Arcade compatable devices:

• Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth
• MFi (Made for iOS) Bluetooth controllers, like the SteelSeries Nimbus, Horipad Ultimate, and more may be supported.

• Keyboard on Mac

Basic Connection Process

1. On your Apple device, go to Settings > Bluetooth
2. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
3. Turn on your controller
4. Put your controller into pairing mode
5. Select the controller name when it appears on the list of available devices
6. Your controller should now be paired with your device
7. You can now play Crossy Road Castle with the paired controller. Then just press a button on your controller to assign it to a player in-game!

Troubleshooting

• Ensure your controller has batteries/is charged to prevent connectivity issues
• Unpair your controller from other devices before initiating a new connection

From the Pause or Settings menu, you can adjust the position of the touch screen controls to suit your preferences. Simply select and drag the buttons to move them. These can be reset to their default position from the same menu.

Game save data can be managed via the Settings menu. From here you can create a new save file, select a different save file, or delete an existing one.

Game Data - What do all the numbers mean?

• Prize Machine Capsule: The total number of items you’ve collected (characters, hats, and towers)
• Coin, Token, and Gem Icons: Indicates the number of each collectable the you currently has
• Total Score: The accumulated score from all the high scores of each tower
• Character and Tower Icon: The most recently used character and tower on that device, with that particular save file. It may differ on the same save file across multiple devices.
• Version Number: Save file data version
• Cloud Tick Icon: Indicates that the data has successfully synced to cloud storage and a copy of the save file is on the device
• Cloud Down Arrow Icon: Indicates that the data has successfully synced to cloud storage, but hasn’t been saved to the device
• Cloud Cross Icon: Indicates that the data has been synced to cloud storage before, but has since been saved locally on device and failed to upload to cloud storage

Unfortunately, cross saves and syncing progress between Apple Arcade and consoles isn’t supported. On Apple Arcade, progress can be synced between Apple devices. On console, you can link your Epic Games Account to sync your progress between your console devices.

On console, linking an Epic Games Account is completely optional and it is not needed to enjoy online multiplayer or crossplay between other console devices. If you do wish to link your Epic Game Account, you can utilise cross saves between your console devices and can view your Epic friends list in the social overlay.

For local multiplayer over WiFi
Players need to be logged into a 13+ Game Center account. The Game Center account can be used on multiple devices playing together.

For online multiplayer
Players need to be logged into any Game Center account of any age, however, only one of each Game Center user can be active at any time.

To run the game, players need to be logged into an Apple ID that has a valid subscription to Apple Arcade. The Game Center account doesn't necessarily need to be the same as the Apple ID on the device.

Unfortunately, this is unsupported and you will lose game connections on one or both of your devices. You can play on multiple devices with the one Epic account and access your saves on both devices, however, you just cannot play at the same time on both devices.

Crossy Road Castle is an endless-runner style game, where every play through is different, you do get to save all your collected items and characters though.

Crossy Road Castle can be enjoyed with up to 4 players on the one device! Each player will need to be connected to the device using a supported controller to join in. Once your controllers are connected to your device, select any button (Apple Arcade), X (PlayStation), B (Nintendo Switch), or A (Xbox) from the lobby screen to join.

When using the same WiFi network, it’s easy to connect multiple devices together to form a 2-4 multiplayer party!

To get started, follow the steps below:

1. Select the Multiplayer button from the Lobby screen
2. Select the WiFi Game button
3. You should now see any available parties on the network
4. Select the group you would like to join, and you’ll be added to the party!

(Note: A Game Center account is required to play online and players must be over the age of 13 to connect over WiFi)

An age restriction for WiFi multiplayer mode is required in order to be compliant with Apple Arcade’s policies. The age restriction is determined by the Game Center account that is logged in on your device, which you can access via your device settings.

Crossy Road Castle also supports online play through the Quick Match mode and via the use of Party Codes to create a private multiplayer game. Both of these modes are playable with a Game Center account of any age.

This mode allows you to play with up to 3 others using a unique code. Share this code with friends & family to invite them to your online multiplayer session.

Create an online multiplayer game using a Party Code

1. Select the Multiplayer button from the lobby screen
2. Select Create Code
3. You’ll then have a party code generated which you can share with friends so they can easily join your party (limited to max 4 players in a party). Make sure you wait for them though, as they won’t be able to connect to you after you have pressed Play.

Join an online multiplayer game using a Party Code

1. Select the Multiplayer button from the lobby screen
2. Select Join
3. Enter the party code (this is generated by the person hosting the game)

Things to Note

• Each Apple device will need to be connected to a different Game Center account to play this mode.
• Party codes don’t last forever, use them while they’re fresh!
• The maximum amount of players is 4, so make sure you’re over the party capacity when attempting to join.

If you want to jump into a multiplayer game as quickly as possible and don’t mind playing with random players, Quick Match / Quick Play is the way to go!

Begin a Quick Match / Quick Play Multiplayer Game

1. Select the Multiplayer or Play Online button from the lobby screen
2. Select Quick Match / Quick Play
3. You will then be taken back to the lobby screen and matched up with other random players.
4. Once you’re ready to begin, select Play or Start!

Sometimes crossplay may experience issues with certain connection types. If you’re unable to join or invite your friend from another console, try this:

1. Open Crossy Road Castle on your console
2. Navigate to Settings
3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to find the Connection Preference settings
4. Change the setting from PEER-TO-PEER(DEFAULT) to SERVER ONLY and see if that helps!

Yes, one of the following platform subscription is neccessy in order to enjoy online multiplayer gameplay:

• PlayStation Plus
• Nintendo Switch Online
• Xbox Game Pass

If you’re having trouble starting an online multiplayer game with a friend, please ensure your devices are running the latest operating system.

It’s also worth checking that you’re running the latest version of Crossy Road Castle too!

Towers are unlocked using keys! You’ll earn 1 key each time you complete 100 levels from any tower.

Note: When playing multiplayer games using a room code, if the host has a particular tower unlocked which you don’t, you still get to play the new tower!

New characters and hats can be unlocked via the Prize Machines. If you haven’t got enough coins or tokens, or if you’ve already won everything in the Prize Machine, don’t worry! More characters and hats are added to the Prize Machines with every new tower that you unlock!

Purple tokens are like coins, but better! They are much rarer than coins and can be found scattered throughout the rooms of each tower. Tokens can be used for a spin on the Character Prize Machine. Each spin costs 50 tokens.

During multiplayer games, collected Tokens are shared and the whole team benefits! When Tokens are spent on either the Character Prize Machine or to unlock a new Tower, they are deducted from your individual Token tally.

Coins are a common collectable and can be found scattered throughout rooms in towers. They can be used for a spin on the Hat Prize Machine which will cost you 500 coins, or from the Heart Vending Machine you can purchase a heart with 100 coins.

During multiplayer games, collected coins are shared and the whole team benefits!

When coins are spent on either the Hat Prize Machine or the Heart Vending Machine, they are deducted from your individual coin tally.

Green gems are super secret and rare collectables. There are 5 gems hidden throughout each tower, tucked away in the green bonus rooms. During multiplayer games, collected gems are shared and the whole team benefits!

People even say that something special happens if you manage to collect all 5 of them…

Players are given 100 tokens at the end of their first tower run. This way, everyone can experience the joy of unlocking a character from the Prize Machine!

Climbing Towers isn’t an easy job, so you’re bound to take a hit every now and again. Thankfully, there are Heart Vending Machines available every 10 rooms where you can trade 100 coins to refill one of your spent lives.

To purchase a heart, just stand on the button and wait for your 100 coins to be put in the machine. The machine will then spit out a heart for you to pick up.

Changed your mind halfway? No worries! Just jump off the button before the full 100 coins makes it into the machine and all your Coins will be given back to you.

If you’re playing a multiplayer game, whoever stands on the Heart Vending Machine button is purchasing the heart with their own coins, the other players won’t have any coins deducted from their tally.

If you have 3 full hearts you’re unable to purchase any more as this is the maximum. Make sure you stand on the vending machine button long enough to actually get the heart.

Rainbow Rift is a special tower featuring HARD levels only for those who enjoy a challenge! Some of these levels you may have seen in previous towers, others are completely new and remix different themed mechanics from various towers.

Rainbow Rift will be revealed to the brave adventures who obtain 5 rainbow mystery thingies. These collectables are found in a tower (after the boss room) where the boss has been defeated 5 times. Every tower has a rainbow mystery thingy to discover! As each one is collected, Rainbow Rift will absorb that tower’s frighteningly difficult content to offer you more super challenging levels!
