Scientific Approach

General framework

CIRAD has been conducting research on modelling as part of the Green Research Unit (renewable resource management and the environment) which deals with the interactions between resources and societies. Our team is part of the Environments and Societies Department at Cirad.

Multi-agent systems (MAS) are simulation tools specially adapted to studying the dynamics of interactions. Our approach to natural resource management is linked to several schools of thought, including the ecological approach. Our ideas have also been shaped by two approaches to natural resources management. These schools of thought use different types of models and simulations. As a result, we propose an approach about the use of modelling.
