Making selections based on color

- [Instructor] Photoshop has several ways to select based on color. In the next few minutes, we'll take a look at the magic wand tool, the quick select and color range. So the magic wand tool works really well for large areas of similar color, like a sky. Wherever you click with the magic wand tool it will select that color. But there are a few options we should discuss. So first is the sample size. By default, it's set two point sample which means it would only select the very color that you click on. Often I will move this to three by three or five by five so that it averages out the color that I click on instead of just pinpointing one. To the right of that, we have the tolerance. That's just how close to the sample color the other colors have to be in order to be included in the selection. So the higher the tolerance the more diverse the colors can be.
