Converting to black and white and color toning with Gradient Maps
- [Presenter] While you can convert your images to black and white and add color tints using Camera Roll and Lightroom, you can also use adjustment layers in Photoshop and then customize that conversion by changing opacity or blend mode or using the adjustment layers map. From the bottom of the layers panel, I'll start by adding a black and white adjustment layer and then let's experiment with some of the presets. We can see when I apply the blue filter versus the red filter, I'm getting a dramatically different conversion of the different color ranges to gray scale. We can also just move any of these sliders in the properties panel. I can have Photoshop do an auto conversion by clicking on the auto button and I can use the on-screen controls in order to click in my image area and then drag left or right to darken or lighten the values of a color range as it gets converted to black and white.
