- [Instructor] Let's see a few ways to launch applications on your Mac and some additional details that go with that. Usually the easiest way to launch an application is to find it on the dock, the row of icons at the bottom of the screen. I want to launch Safari, so I'll find the icon for Safari, click on that, and it launches that application. When you launch an application, usually a window opens, but even if you don't see a window, you know an application is running when you see a black dot under the icon in the dock. Now, I'm sure you've noticed not every application on your computer is in the dock. For example, I want to launch the dictionary application, which is not currently in the dock. So a different way to launch an application is to go to Launchpad, and Launchpad itself is an icon in the doc. So I'll click the Launchpad icon, and this is Launchpad.
