Connect external drives

- [Narrator] In addition to any internal storage drives that are a permanent part of your computer, you can also use external storage drives like an external hard drive or USB memory stick. You should start by connecting your drive to your computer. It usually plugs into a USB, USBC or thunderbolt port. Just make sure your computer has the port that goes with the connector or the cable on your drive. USB memory sticks and larger storage drives work mostly the same. I'll connect a USB memory stick to my computer, and after a moment, I see it appear on the desktop. And if I open a Finder window, I see it appear in the sidebar on the left side of the Finder window as well. If you do not see one of these, of course, it could be that your drive has not been connected properly, or it could be a setting. So in the menus at the top, I'll go to the Finder menu, then to Settings. And first in the General tab, you can choose whether you want external disc to appear on the desktop. And if you go…
