From the course: Learning GitHub

Install GitHub Desktop

- [Instructor] In the previous video we have seen how to work on GitHub with a command prompt but there are several ways to interact with it. The second one that you are going to see right now is a desktop client for GitHub and it's called GitHub Desktop. Basically, it's a cross-platform application written in (indistinct), so we can use it from Windows or macOS with the same interface and the same feature. To install GitHub Desktop, you can navigate on your browser at the address https://desktop.github.com and the purple button in the middle of screen will make you download the right version for your operating system. By the way, you can download another version by clicking on the relative link with the right name of your operating system on the right link below the purple button. If you're feeling brave you can also try the beta version of the tool. It's up to you. Of course it's beta and can be less stable than the main version. Once downloaded the tool and launched you have to login with your GitHub credential. If you have the multifactor authentication configured on your account as I hope, the normal login flow will be followed. And now we are ready to start to work with the GitHub Desktop and in the next videos we will see how to perform the basic action to interact with your repositories.
