- [Presenter] Phishing is a type of cyber attack where a malicious actor attempts to trick a victim into providing confidential information such as login credentials or financial information by posing as a trustworthy entity. Malicious actors launch phishing attacks to a large number of recipients using any of the following, spam which uses email messages. Spim uses instant messages or SPIT using Voiceover IP or internet telephony. Today there are several types of phishing attacks. Spear phishing uses customized messages tailored to the specific interest or characteristics of the victim in order to increase the likelihood of success. Vishing or Voiceover IP phishing uses the phone to get someone to divulge personal information.
