- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll see how to modify the canvas by cropping it or expanding it, and we'll look at the difference between resizing and re-sampling images. Here in our exercise file, we have this picture of a car. And let's say that we need to make it the right size and resolution for printing as a four by six ad. So that would mean adding some space up here on top of the canvas over the car. So let's see what we have right now by going to the image size dialogue box from the image menu. So, right now this image is 2,400 pixels by 1,575, which means at a resolution of 300 pixels per inch, it's going to print out as eight inches wide and five and a quarter inches tall. So this is bigger than what we need. To reduce the number of pixels in this file, this re-sample checkbox must be turned on. If I turn it off and I make a change to the width, say, I'll make it four inches, notice that the pixel dimensions didn't change at all, but the resolution doubled. So now it's 600…
