- So let's break down what this applicant tracking system, the ATS, really is. Because a lot of candidates have this fear, this ATS is this big scary thing that'll reject resumes left and right. But the reality is, most resumes are still reviewed by human. The ATS is just a tool that helps recruiters and HR stay organized with all the resumes they get every single day. So when someone applies on the company website or job board, the ATS takes that information and puts it into the right categories that helps recruiters do their job. The only time it becomes a problem is when the ATS cannot read certain information because of how it's formatted. Here are examples of what not to do.
