About The Role

As a pivotal leader in building our finance team from scratch, this hands-on CFO role demands active engagement in overseeing all aspects of financial management, from strategic planning and complex financial reporting to capital and cost management to legal and payment processing management.

Your leadership will ensure the execution of critical financial tasks and deeply help shape our broader financial strategy.

You love building from scratch but also watching what you have built work like a well oiled machine.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership and Strategy: Build and lead the finance team with a hands-on approach, ensuring that strategic financial goals are met. Develop and implement robust financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Oversee the financial planning process, including budget creation, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Primary Contact for External Auditors, Creditors, and Regulators: Coordinate with auditors, maintain relationships with creditors and regulators, and ensure compliance
  • Oversight of Payroll Processing: Supervise payroll processing for accuracy and compliance, staying updated on labor law changes
  • Accounts Payable Oversight and Approval: Review and approve payable transactions, implement vendor relationship controls, and optimize payment terms and work with COO on contract negotiations
  • Internal Controls and Procedures: Develop robust internal controls, regularly assess and update procedures, and conduct internal audits
  • Tax Planning & Strategy: Collaborate on tax planning, ensure compliance with regulations, and optimize the company's tax position
  • Operational Improvements for Profitability: Analyze processes for efficiency improvements and collaborate on cost-saving initiatives
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead budgeting, collaborate with department heads, and develop forecasts based on industry trends
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company adheres to all financial regulations and compliance requirements, mitigating risks and maintaining integrity
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Educating all stakeholders on the impact of finance on their department, and vis versa
  • Credit Card and Payment Management: Serve as the primary liaison for our payment processors and financial solutions, ensuring we have backup options in place for our processing needs
  • Strategic Partnerships and M&A: Engage in strategic financial planning and analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, evaluating opportunities and overseeing integration from a financial perspective
  • Investor Relations: Manage communications with investors, including preparing and presenting financial metrics and company performance, to ensure transparency and build investor confidence

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles
  • Experience with GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Experience managing third party financial & tax relationships
  • Proven experience leading a financial process for $50MM+ company
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices in financial management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions
  • Experience in SaaS or businesses with Recurring Revenue

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or Previous CPA certification a plus
  • Experience with Private Equity or Investor Relations
  • Experience with payroll software, such as Rippling, Bamboo, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with expense management tools like Expensify, Bill.com, or similar products
