Summary:
Workday is the leading cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution, providing a unified finance, human resources, and student/faculty experience. American University (AU) implemented Workday for Finance, Budget, Human Resources, and Payroll and is now embarking on the implementation of Workday Student. This internship welcomes AU students from any major to apply and provides an opportunity to gain marketable, real-world experience in Workday. The successful candidate will support AU’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) and university stakeholders in the implementation of Workday and collaborate with other interns, the implementation partner (Workday Professional Services), and the AU project team. The position is primarily remote with one day a month in the office, non-exempt, and non-benefits eligible. Candidates should be available 15 - 20 hours per week during regular business hours, for a minimum commitment of one semester with an option to extend. Internships start the Fall semester of September 2024 and end the Spring semester of 2027.
Essential Functions
- Participate in one or more of the following workstreams: Admissions, Student Records, Advising, Financial Aid, and Student Financials.
- Collaborate with AU OIT staff in design sessions with Workday implementation team.
- Draft documentation and communications.
- Assist with capturing data for configurations in the Workday system.
- Assist with administrative responsibilities in Workday and Smartsheet.
- Assist in conducting testing in Workday and noting defects in Smartsheet.
- Assist in verifying data during data conversion for accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned.
- $18-$19 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Not eligible for any benefits.
- This internship is Federal Work Study eligible.
- 20 hours per week.
- Sophomore students and above, including graduate students.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral communications skills.
- Ability to be resourceful, take initiative, and be willing to take on whatever tasks are needed.
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task on multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to follow directions, exercise good judgment, and work independently
- Ability to work well as a part of the team.
- Interest in Workday, student lifecycle business processes, information technology, change management, communication, or project management.
