The Opportunity

We are seeking a Vice President of Philanthropy to oversee the execution of our fundraising strategy across national and regional donor portfolios. This role involves managing the Development team’s day-to-day operations and driving internal processes for donor management. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and a passion for our mission.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee Fundraising - National & Regional Portfolios:

  • Contribute to the vision-setting, design, and implementation of strategy for donor portfolio stewardship and growth.
  • Participate directly in frontline fundraising and external engagement activities.
  • Ensure high-quality materials are prepared and presented to all funders and prospective donors.
  • Stay informed about local, national, and field-level trends to support our development strategy and messaging.

Team Management And Development

  • Manage staff members related to national and regional donor portfolios.
  • Lead Development team meetings, capacity-building, coaching, and facilitation to maximize fundraising effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to support portfolio fundraising activities.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive, solutions-oriented, high-trust team and organizational culture.

Development Operations

  • Set vision, design, and implement strategy for efficient development operations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of our CRM system to maintain up-to-date records.
  • Lead learning and development capacity-building sessions for development and other staff.
  • Serve as the liaison with finance and operations to ensure efficient workflows and financial tracking.
  • Oversee and improve tracking systems and tools, and prepare materials for all-staff and Board of Directors meetings.

Experience

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 10 years of nonprofit strategy, fundraising, and operations experience.
  • Successful track record of revenue generation across institutional and individual giving.
  • Experience with development systems including CRM and gift tracking and processing.
  • Experience managing direct reports and working across teams.
  • Strong project management background.
  • Passion and commitment to our mission; experience working on relevant issues preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Comfort and fluency with SalesForce, G-suite, Slack, and presentation formats.

Transportation

  • This role requires 25% travel, including occasional weekends and evenings for fundraising and programmatic events.

Compensation Policy

We are committed to valuing team members holistically and offering competitive salaries and benefits. Our salary band for this role is \(125,000 - \)200,000, based on relevant experience, credentials, role-related competencies, and geographic location. We do not engage in salary negotiations; our first offer is always our best offer.
