Position Overview

At Battle Road, we’re applying cutting edge innovations and experience from the video game industry to build the future of simulations, modeling, and operations with AtomEngine – our proprietary cloud-based game engine that’s making the world playable.  As we continue to grow, we’re seeking an experienced and highly skilled engineering leader to improve and mature our core products & services. 

Position Summary 

As VP, Engineering, you’ll lead a team of experienced game developers building AtomEngine, our scalable cloud-based simulation and modeling platform.  In this role you’ll work closely with the Battle Road executive team to define product priorities, develop technical architectures aligned with business goals, and execute on engineering objectives.   

Key Responsibilities 

• Owning strategic system architecture design & high-level documentation. 
• Developing and maintaining a unified technical vision for the service. 
• Leading and growing engineering teams through the design, development, release, and maintenance of core products. 
• Developing scalable systems that align to and support product and business goals. 
• Driving ongoing performance and scale of the core platform. 
• Architecting scalable, extensible systems that allow for ongoing feature development and external systems integrations. 
• Development of and accountability for core performance metrics. 

Required Qualifications 

• Leading and growing successful engineering teams. 
• Microservices design & development. 
• Developing scale game back end or PaaS systems. 
• Experience with parallel computing systems. 
• Test automation and build/release best practices. 
• Proficiency with ECS systems. 
• Experience with gameplay systems and game back end design and development. 
• Designing network systems for security. 

Physical Work Requirements 

• You can sit, operate a computer, and a phone for extended periods.  
• Usually work indoors.  
• Periodic travel (no more than 20%).
