Essential Functions

  • Manage the careers of team(s) of 8-12 people
    • Create specific and measurable objectives; provide real-time feedback in the spirit of developing team members and delivering outcomes
    • Provide professional and on-the-job opportunities to grow team members’ skills
    • Foster a highly engaged team through regular 1:1s and team meetings with clear ties from the day-to-day work at hand to the big picture at ABOUT
    • Support team members through organizational and/or professional obstacles
    • Recruit and assess development candidates; act as hiring manager for designated roles
  • Manage team projects
    • Guide team through the Scrum development lifecycle
    • Remove impediments and escalate to Director of Engineering as needed
    • Assist in making architectural and technical decisions
    • Track and report on the progress of the project
    • Oversee the code review process to ensure quality in the deliverables
  • Report to the Director of Engineering; partner with Architecture and Quality Assurance to ensure projects are meeting technical, quality and process standards
  • Represent the team to fellow engineering disciplines and product management, customer support and implementation
  • Stay plugged into the technical community, keeping abreast of the latest practices and technologies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Need To Have

  • 8+ years of Software Engineering experience  
  • 3+ years of Engineering Management experience
  • Proven experience delivering large scale SaaS applications

Nice To Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Prior experience working in a private equity-funded organization
  • Healthcare technology experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure 
  • Knowledge of AWS VA and operating in VA environment in a cloud provider preferred

Required Knowledge

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Business planning and development
  • Working knowledge of software development life cycle methodology, preferably within a Scrum environment  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to partner and work across teams and levels within the organization
  • Knowledge of or proficiency with Microsoft .Net C#, SQL Server, and other Microsoft technologies 
  • Strong knowledge of general algorithms, design patterns, and good coding practices
  • Knowledge of Entity Framework or similar ORM tools   
  • Knowledge of client-server and web development  
  • Knowledge of Vue.js or similar modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Strong mentoring & career development/growth skills

Travel as needed to support company and customer initiatives. Work on Site at our St Paul office may be required and ABOUT reserves the right to change the location of the role at any time.

This role may involve work on federal government contracts that require additional federal background investigations, training, and federal badging. As such, you will may required to submit personal information to the government and be fingerprinted and photographed at your local Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
