The Digital Specialist is responsible for driving targeted traffic and generating high-quality leads through digital marketing channels. This role involves managing and optimizing paid search and retargeting campaigns, implementing SEO strategies, and utilizing tools like Algolia and Hotjar to improve website performance and user experience. Key responsibilities include conducting keyword research, creating effective landing pages and ad copy, analyzing website traffic and campaign performance, and making data-driven recommendations for optimization. As a key member of the digital team, the specialist collaborates closely with content, design, and sales teams to create cohesive marketing strategies and ensure seamless lead handoff.

Location: Candidate MUST be based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The work is hybrid.

The opportunity

Lead Generation and Paid Media

  • Execute demand generation plans to attract and convert high-quality leads.
  • Manage and optimize paid search campaigns (e.g., Google Ads) to maximize ROI.
  • Schedule and oversee all paid media activities, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  • Collaborate with content and design teams to create effective landing pages and ad copy.
  • Utilize Algolia to enhance website search functionality and improve user experience.
  • Develop and manage retargeting campaigns to re-engage visitors and convert them into leads.
  • Coordinate with sales teams to ensure seamless handoff of qualified leads.
  • Optimize ad spend and budget allocation across various channels to ensure maximum efficiency.

SEO, Search Optimization, And Analytics

  • Conduct keyword research and implement on-page SEO strategies, including content, meta tags and heading optimization to improve organic search rankings.
  • Implement content SEO briefs to optimize blog pages, product descriptions, category pages and any piece of digital content.
  • Develop and execute off-page SEO strategies, including link building and outreach.
  • Monitor and improve website performance, including site speed and mobile optimization.
  • Analyze website traffic and campaign performance, providing insights and optimization recommendations.
  • Fully own and manage Algolia search tool to improve search relevance and user satisfaction.
  • Use Hotjar to analyze user behavior and report findings with data-driven recommendations.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor strategies to stay ahead of the curve, as well as stay updated with search engine algorithm changes.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of SEO efforts to stakeholders.
  • Conduct A/B testing to evaluate the effectiveness of different strategies and make data-driven improvements.
  • Recommend website improvements based on analytics to enhance user experience and conversion rates.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Specialist /Digital Specialist to enhance brand visibility and authority on relevant social platforms. Exp: use keyword research from SEO best practices to reinforce social media messaging and optimize social profiles.

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in demand generation, SEM, and SEO.
  • Certification in Google Analytics, Google Ads, or other relevant platforms (an asset).
  • Proven success managing and optimizing paid search and retargeting campaigns (e.g., Google Ads).
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics and other website traffic analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and keyword research.
  • Experience with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Google Search Console, MOZ, Ahrefs etc.
  • Experience managing Algolia for search optimization (preferred but not required; training available).
  • Familiarity with Hotjar for user behavior analysis (preferred but not required; training available).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with content, design, and sales teams.
  • Strong data analysis skills for making data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Experience in budget management and optimizing ad spend across channels.
  • Openness to learning and adopting new technologies and methods in marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent French and English (oral & written) required. This position will be working with global partners across the globe and to members of leadership in Australia.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry.
