Infrastructure Engineering Manager

Accountabilities

  • Develop the Infrastructure Engineering team into a highly collaborative, forward-thinking team of technical experts
  • Ensure that the team is conversant in relevant emerging and disruptive technologies, with a view to integrating new methods, processes, tools or platforms into the company's ecosystem to improve resiliency, efficiency and/or scalability
  • Lead modernization efforts that create a focus on delivering capabilities that allow the company to meet strategic business goals, including topics like adopting infrastructure-as-code, implementing systemic automation to reduce technical debt, improving or creating workload portability, evolving the network into a zero trust, fully software-defined state
  • Recommending suitable technology infrastructure solutions and updates to engineering staff in order to develop long- and short-term planning
  • Identify improvements to the IT architecture in order to ensure business sustainability
  • Lead the execution of IT deployment and project plan to deliver the best solution on time and in accordance with the overall IT strategy and vision
  • Lead efforts to "shift left” through consistent documentation and globalization of IT knowledge for other IT personnel and end users and a focus on delivering self-service capabilities to simplify the overall IT infrastructure process
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the establishment of standards and procedures to ensure that the network and computing infrastructure at the company are ready and able to scale to meet the demands of the business


General Responsibilities

  • Provide periodic reporting on workforce capacity and utilization
  • Provide periodic reporting on the availability and health of infrastructure, including incident reporting for outages and other support-related problems
  • Oversee the staff who support end user computing devices, physical and virtual servers, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, VxRail/VMWare, Avamar, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Kace Systems Management, Solarwinds monitoring tools, AWS and Azure resources, SMB/File shares, SFTP, Internet uplinks, Firewalls, VPN, routers, switches, wireless access points, and Avaya phone systems
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field or industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of systems or software architect responsibilities in enterprise environments
  • In-depth knowledge of system development lifecycle and networking required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with virtualized server environments, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS products, and modern multi-site networks required
  • Demonstrated business acumen and communication skills to develop strong partnerships with business leaders required
  • Experience managing small teams of technical personnel required
  • Experience using Project Management concepts and methodologies required
  • Experience with Agile processes preferred
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
