ACCOUNT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

We have the agility of a small business, backed by over 77 years of the Swagelok brand's focus on Quality First! As an outside Sales Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fostering enduring customer relationships, providing exceptional support, and actively contributing to the growth of our business. We have exclusive rights to sell Swagelok products in Georgia, South Carolina and the Jacksonville FL territories. 


This position is for the Charleston SC to Savannah and I-95 corridor territory. Candidates should have the some mechanical and/ or fluid system process understanding as we are engineered fluid solutions for a diverse client base covering many industries. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess outstanding customer service skills, strong business acumen, emotional intelligence, excellent communication and presentation skills, attention to detail and a team-oriented mindset. 


We are a premium product, so our salespersons are polished, intelligent, quick learners, well versed in research and long term solutions, and invested in building relationships. They understand how to position our premium product in the marketplace. We sell both parts and custom assembled solutions. We sell only B2B and we are not the typical "milk run" type selling; we think long term and value truly partnering with our customers. 


Our salespersons tend to stay with our company for decades, (we have had up to 50 years!) ; so we are looking for someone who is interested in a long-term position where they can grow their career over time. POSITION SUMMARY: 

Apply the full breadth of Swagelok fluid system products, services, and custom solutions to grow sales and deliver value beyond our customer’s expectations. Develop and manage assigned territory, marketing, and sales plan for efficient and effective account coverage. Create and execute conversion key account plans for all high potential customers. 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Product and Service Application Responsibilities 

  • Create and foster relationships at target accounts to position Swagelok Georgia | Jacksonville | South Carolina as the preferred “fluid systems consultant” over “component vendor”.
  • Sales growth in product offerings for Swagelok fittings, valves, regulators, hoses, measurement devices, sampling systems, services, and custom solutions. 
  • Identify and engage upper-level customer management (“C” level) to develop relationships, determine their business goals and present solutions that helps them to achieve those goals.
  • Utilize CRM actively to track Opportunities, quality appointments/engagements and actions associated with growing business with select accounts.   
  • Identify Initial opportunities, qualify and serve as project pursuit team leader for these opportunities, as well as all customer projects and new builds in assigned accounts.
  • Develop applications and industry specific knowledge for all primary products and service responsibilities for the industry mix located in assigned accounts. 


Customer Marketing and Sales Plan 

  • Maintain active customer database with key contact names, positions, phone numbers, addresses and activity history in CRM.
  • Create a detailed Account Plan for each of assigned accounts to ensure proactive planning is in place to achieve determined growth goals.
  • Develop a plan to convert targeted accounts that do not currently buy from Swagelok.
  • Conduct maintenance and engineering “prospecting” seminars to introduce new products and services and/or reinforce existing capabilities at qualified and targeted accounts. 
  • Consistently achieve or exceed key sales metrics (sales, activities, etc.) as determined by Swagelok Georgia | Jacksonville | South Carolina management team. 
  • Work with Marketing to develop and execute specific marketing plans for assigned customers, products, service, or industries.
  • Leverage Swagelok Field Engineering capabilities to conduct certified Swagelok Field Advisory Service events.

SUPERVISION: 

Serve as account/territory team member working in union with inside Customer Service and Operations Associates to best serve our customers. 


TRAVEL: 

Minimal overnight travel except for occasional training seminars and sales meetings. Work from home office. 


TRAINING: 

Depending on experience, customized training in Alpharetta, GA or Piedmont, SC for up to three months may be required. It will be required that you attend Account Manager onboarding activities in the Alpharetta office. 



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERENCE: 

  • Minimum BS degree with Engineering Technology preferred. 
  • Minimum 2-4 years total experience in maintenance, engineering and/or instrumentation functions, preferably in the process industries (Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Power, Biopharmaceutical, Process Analytics, etc.). 
  • Experience in technical sales a plus, but not required. Must exhibit good sales and mechanical aptitude.
