Base pay range

$200,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr
This is a search for a Head of GAAP Reporting with an acquisitive, established/entrepreneurial, Life & Annuity carrier that is planning to go public. The carrier encourages associates to take a holistic view of the business and because of its mid-size, associates get involved in much and become part of the fabric of supporting the continued scale up of this carrier while coming away with a real understanding of how the business works. The carrier is led by a CEO and an investor team who have extensive expertise in insurance and who are well known and well-respected leaders in the life & annuity space. The carrier, through its member companies and agent/broker distribution network has over 250,000+ policies, provides $13+ billion in coverage and is A rated. Their mission is to provide their customers and their families life insurance, asset accumulation and supplemental health products to help them achieve their goals.

Scope

Reporting to the CAO, the Head of GAAP Reporting will be a key position in preparing the carrier to go public and will be part of a Finance department that is responsible for decisions around strategic capital deployment, financial reporting, accounting policy, tax, treasury, audit, rating agency processes as well as finance board and audit committee presentations. A fuller description is available, some highlights of the scope of the role below:

  • Take ownership of all U.S. GAAP processes, including consolidation and financial reporting.
  • Manage external auditors to ensure an efficient financial statement audit.
  • Enhance the capabilities of the Oracle Ledger system to generate financial statements by line-of-business.
  • Streamline the U.S. GAAP closing process to align with public company standards.
  • Support inorganic transactions for Reinsurance to Bermuda or M&A, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Collaborate with relevant FP&A personnel to create plan vs. actual presentations that provide context for key metric drivers, with a focus on actual results.
  • Assist in developing more informative Board & AC Decks related to GAAP results.
  • Strive to enhance internal controls as needed.
  • Assist in preparing GAAP key metrics and information for Ad-hoc presentations and inquiries from Debt providers.
  • Work on developing key processes and data for a future 144A debt offering that will be based on GAAP covenants.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance is a prerequisite.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a minimum of 8-10+ years of experience in Financial Reporting.
  • Preferred experience in Reinsurance and previous involvement with growth companies in life and annuities products.
  • Strongly preferred proficiency in Oracle general ledger.
  • Proficiency in GAAP public MD&A requirements is a significant advantage.
