Job Description

  • The Division of Student Affairs is reimagining how to best serve Mizzou’s diverse student population. We are committed to facilitating exceptional co-curricular experiences to help all Mizzou students succeed on campus and after graduation.
  • As part of this process, the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is seeking a collaborative, student-centered professional to fill the role of Coordinator for Campus Activities and serve as the co-advisor for programs and services associated with the Campus Activities Programming Board (CAPB). Programs and services include, but are not limited to, day-time programming, traditions, late night programming, movie series, speakers, and concerts.
  • This position is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising approximately 40 student employees. Additionally, this position will serve as a resource to student leaders in the Center for Student Involvement in the development of event planning, risk management, and other skills necessary to support student engagement, sense of belonging, and affiliation with MU. This full-time professional staff position will report directly to the Associate Director of Student Engagement, Leadership & Service.

Th This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop, coordinate, and assess programs/ events/ activities in support of the mission of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) and Campus Activities.
  • Serve as a co-advisor to the Campus Activities Programming Board (CAPB); facilitate staff meetings; one-on-one meetings; and, assigned programs and events sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement.
  • Work as a team to execute large signature events such as Welcome Week, Family Weekend feature event, Finals Week programming, and other CAPB large-scale programs.
  • Hire, train, and provide supervision to a team of student employees for the office. Manage payroll for student employees.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and belonging to ensure efforts are meeting the needs of Mizzou’s diverse student body.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a wide range of University partners, including but not limited to MizzouRec, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Office of Reservations & Events, MUPD, Mizzou Alumni Association, Residential Life, Office of Assessment & Strategic Initiatives, Environmental Health & Safety, Emergency Services, and Campus Facilities.
  • Serve as a member of the Campus Events Council and provide general event planning assistance to students, faculty, and staff on various events and initiatives at the University.
  • Ensure that CAPB events are in compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Student Affairs Marketing and Assessment to promote, evaluate, and enhance overall student engagement opportunities.
  • Provide input on and implement an assigned budget to deliver maximum student impact.
  • Serve on departmental and divisional committees, as needed.

Shift

8-5 p.m., Monday-Friday (40 hours per week)

This position will require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside the normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

  • Master’s degree
  • Must possess a philosophy of student development and the ability to problem-solve.
  • Be highly creative and possess energy and enthusiasm to elicit the support and participation of students.
  • Have a positive and friendly disposition, possess flexibility, and effective communication skills
  • Can take initiative and to work independently.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends and be a team player.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary: $17.43 - $26.45
