Director of Engineering

As Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing multiple teams of talented software engineers who build the supplier side of our platform. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality software solutions that align with our company's strategic goals and delight our customers. You will provide technical and architectural leadership, guide the software development process, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive both excellence in software engineering practices and business outcomes. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record of delivering complex software projects, and experience with the transition from the startup to scale-up phase.

What You'll Do:

Leadership and Strategy

• Foster a culture of engineering and operational excellence.
• Drive results with a bias toward action.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the software engineering team.
• Collaborate with Product & Engineering leaders and senior management to align software engineering initiatives with business objectives.
• Mentor and support a team of software engineers to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Implement software development processes, methodologies, and best practices.
• Encourage creativity and innovation through bold exploration of new approaches and technologies.
  
  

Team Management

• With team tech leads, oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, and quality standards.
• Play an active role in setting our roadmap and ensuring we deliver.
• Track team progress, and address any issues or risks.
• Encourage accountability, ownership, and continuous learning.
• Recruit and retain top software engineering talent.
  
  

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with product managers, team tech leads, and stakeholders to define software requirements and prioritize features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
• Work with product trios to align software solutions with customer needs.
• Ensure a high degree of understanding between technical and non-technical colleagues.
  
  

What We Look For:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience (8+ years) in software development, including leadership roles overseeing multiple teams.
• Strong technical background and understanding of software development methodologies, cloud native architecture, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Business acumen and the ability to align technical strategies with organizational goals.
