The Director of Operations is a hands-on leader who will oversee H&C’s daily operational activities that include logistics, warehousing, production, supply chain management and inventory control, quality and regulatory functions. Most importantly, the Director is responsible for the on-time and accurate delivery of products to our customers, and meeting customer requirements while establishing performance metrics and associated performance targets. Responsibilities include overseeing all warehouse transactions and production, purchase forecasting, quality management, customer order management and delivery of inventory from our suppliers. Excellent communication and teamwork skills will ensure close alignment with the sales, marketing, and finance teams to support their work requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Oversee the execution of high-volume distribution and supply chain activities across multiple vendors, warehouses, and carriers. Plan and lead quarterly business review (QBR) with transportation partners and develop and maintain supplier performance metrics to report during QBRs.
  • Develop a high-performing operations team that includes onsite as well as remote employees.
  • Lead the production process to ensure quality standards are followed and in compliance with GMPs (good manufacturing practices).
  • Oversee the procurement process to ensure products are at proper inventory levels to meet customer demand. Ensures complete, accurate, and timely completion of inventory transactions including receipts, purchase orders, sales orders, transfer orders, and necessary inventory adjustment. Proactively identify operational supply/expiry risks and collaborate with cross-functional teams/partners to resolve issues effectively.
  • Oversee inventory forecasting using sales forecasts, retailer consumption data, sales history, and knowledge of vendor capabilities to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Oversee systematic customer order management from EDI and other sources.
  • Leads the ongoing development and implementation of new EDI automation tasks and updated processes for improved daily operations.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships and drive cost savings and increased value through successful negotiation of vendor contracts and partnerships.
  • Closely monitor all inventory levels to identify under-performing areas and suggest solutions to optimize our inventory position. Ensures 99%+ inventory accuracy month over month is sustained.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous quality improvement across the product lines,
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline operations, improve product quality and reduce COGS.
  • Ensure weekly reports are distributed to key personnel/teams on inventory positions, restock dates, and current/potential delays within the supply chain.
  • Maintain knowledge of customer compliance requirements in relation to product specifications and shipping.
  • Attend compliance meetings with key customers to improve performance metrics and understand routing requirements.
  • Maintain and monitor monthly a set of supply chain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). KPIs include warehouse costs, freight costs, order fulfillment (fill rate, on-time delivery, and shipping errors), quality, inbound and outbound shipment data. Review raw data for trends and deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Represent the supply chain in project teams and meetings, participate in supply chain activities to launch new products and into new markets.
  • Develop documented processes that increase the team’s efficiency and effectiveness in day-to-day tasks and communication. Drive process improvement.
  • Oversee operational reports and tasks are completed accurately and on time for end of month close.
  • Owns the operational budget and assists in the annual budget planning process.


Qualifications Required:


  • Miniumum-3-8 years of relevant operations experience in a consumer goods manufacturing and distribution environment
  • BA/BS in relevant field
  • Demonstrated organizational, change management, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage in-house and remote team members to those priorities with the most strategic value for the organization.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team on accurate planning and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present data findings.
  • Experience with Amazon and Chewy is a plus.
  • Location: Parker, CO
  • Ability to travel 20%.
