Spearmint Energy (“Spearmint”) is a next-generation renewable energy company enabling the clean energy revolution through developing and installing battery energy storage systems (BESS). Spearmint currently operates a 150MW/300 MWh BESS project located in West Texas, and is also developing over 20 projects, totaling over 10 GWh of capacity, across 10+ states in 4 regions of the United States. Headquartered in Miami, Florida with an additional office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Spearmint is comprised of over 40 seasoned industry professionals across development and corporate functions and aims to be the preeminent green merchant energy company.


Spearmint develops, owns, operates, and optimizes battery energy storage systems with the aim of reducing grid volatility, increasing system resiliency, and helping minimize carbon emissions in a responsible and efficient way.


What You Will Do

We are looking for a dynamic in-house attorney with transactional experience who can assist the General Counsel with the growing legal demands of a rewnable energy company. In this role you will review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, preapre corporate governance documents, manage legal operations and outside counsel. This is a unique opportunity for a junior to mid-level attorney to grow their career in a start-up enviornment.

 

Core Responsibilities

·        Review, negotiate and draft all vendor contracts

·        Manage corporate governance in coordination with paralegal.

·        Manage legal operations in coordination with paralegal

·        Act as a project manager for high-volume of work with outside counsel to ensure all matters are meeting deliverables and budget

·        Depending on experience and interest, become the “in-house expert” for development, construction, project finance, sponsor relations, and other core areas of legal work.


Who You Are

·        Transactional attorney with 5-10 years experience at a law firm, in-house or both

·        Experience in renewable energy, energy, heavy equipment or manufacturing industries preferred

·        Ability to work in a fast-moving enviornment with a wide range of projects and competing deadlines

·        Preferred to work in Miami, FL office
