Quality Assurance Team Leader (Shift Manager)

We are seeking a self-motivated, team-oriented individual to manage the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs at our plant. The ideal candidate will be a hands on manager that posses the skills and fortitude to work in a fast paced environment. This individual will be responsible for managing a staff of technicians along with directing the plants Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs to insure compliance with Company and Government procedures. Inspect and audit the operation in all phases of Quality performance (Raw material, Production, Packaging and Distribution). Ensure the free-flow of information between departments by identifying and trouble-shooting problems in the production process. Key duties also involve communication across departments, preparing reports, and upholding corporate standards for food safety and cleanliness.

QA/QC experience in the food or beverage industry is a must.

Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Ensure that all QC technicians and plant personnel are properly trained with regard to quality programs, procedures, safety and housekeeping. Ensure that all equipment is calibrated and functioning.
• Carry out QC policies, procedures and directives in the development of and compliance with company and government Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’S) while providing feedback and necessary follow up to ensure proper correction action.
• Address product issues and improve efficiency.
• Ensure the free flow of information between departments by identifying and troubleshooting problems in the production process.
• Ensure all product formulations are produced in accordance with QA analytical specifications.
• Provide technical assistance, and coordinate plant trials with R&D with all new products.
• Investigate root cause of consumer complaint and provide direction to the plant to address process improvement and consumer complaint corrective actions.
• Perform Quality/Haccp/GMP internal audits with corrective actions.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
• 1-3 years experience in Quality Assurance in a Food or Beverage manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of GMP and HACCP, SQF Programs.
• Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Progressive management experience with proven leadership skills
• Solid experience in training/developing hourly employees
• Strong computer skills. Knowledge in AS400 and Microsoft software a plus.
  
  

Education And /or Experience

Bachelor Degree (B.A) from four-year College or university; or 3-5 years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
