As a Director of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for setting strategy, for leading your team to deliver results consistently and sustainably, for growing and developing talented engineers, and for cultivating a healthy, results-driven culture on your team.

The AI team aims to revolutionize the operation of security and compliance programs. We are doing so by streamlining the tedious Q&A process in security reviews and arming our users with actionable insights based on their business context and Vanta’s subject matter expertise.

AI plays a critical role in the value Vanta delivers to customers, and we are just getting started. It’s essential that we stay on top of the cutting edge technologies, cultivate innovation across the organization, and unlock more values to customers and business. You’ll leverage your domain knowledge and past experience to drive the technical and strategic AI vision forward.

What you’ll do as a Director of Engineering, AI at Vanta:

• Lead the AI engineering organization, providing visionary leadership and strategic direction. Shape and articulate the long term engineering vision for AI at Vanta, aligning scalable and innovative engineering strategies with broader company objectives.
• Support the broader organization in investing in AI to make customers’ lives easier.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of a scalable applied AI platform. You are expected to roll up your sleeves and get hands on when necessary.
• Prioritize and oversee the AI research effort at Vanta to unlock new opportunities for the business.
• Drive significant impact for our customers and business by leading teams to deliver results consistently and sustainably
• Develop and hire teams of talented and kind engineers
• Set direction and guide technical strategy, ensuring that your team is delivering long-term value aligned with Vanta’s business priorities
• Work closely with Vanta’s customers and customer-facing teammates to build and ship high-value products and infrastructure
• Play an integral role in laying the foundation for Vanta’s engineering culture
  
  

How to be successful in this role:

• 5+ years of management experience, with 2+ leading AI/ML teams.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale product or platform results by leveraging and influencing cross-functional collaborations.
• Experience in delivering or supporting products across various organizations, building and maintaining cross-functional partnerships.
• Demonstrable experience in designing Applied AI Systems and Architecture
• Have participated in developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc) in a prior role
• Have prior experience managing complex, long-term projects that touch multiple teams and cross-functional stakeholders
• Have previous startup experience, or worked in an environment that prioritizes a bias for action
• Have an interest in learning about security or prior experience in the space

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The base pay range for this position is $265,000 - $310,000. This role may also be eligible for commissions/bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
