Channel Sales Director - Dollar/Value Channel - Private Label

Position Summary

The Channel Sales Director position will report to the SVP Private Label Sales and work on the strategic development, direct customer sales and execution of key lines of business that are the primary growth opportunities for the Channel. The Director will develop a deep understanding of the customer and consumer needs to support winning strategies for product positioning and development. The Director helps define and translate strategies into initiatives that result in accelerated share and profit growth by working closely with product development, sales, and manufacturing to optimize product lines and deliver sustainable profit growth. In addition to the above, the individual will hold sales responsibility for a book of business as assigned by the SVP which will require travel and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with key customers.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Help develop business positioning, pricing and new product strategies for their channel with CM and Pricing team
  • Responsible for developing the customer relationship as well as sales growth and profitability goals for customers assigned by SVP
  • Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, Data Analytics & Insights to understand, align and activate against target consumer behavior and insights
  • Support the SVP Sales by tracking and analyzing sales, evaluating progress against plan, recommending corrective action as needed to include line extension and new product introductions in conjunction with Business Development and Margin Management.
  • Direct the activities of the Channel Specialist
  • Work with team to develop a detailed analysis of the competitive set and maintains that as a tool to help manage the business
  • Participate with and support the SVP on internal teams as directed
  • Keep SVP Sales aware of critical timelines and effectiveness of tactical plan execution
  • Track profitability of Channel variances to help the SVP attain annual and long-range financial objectives
  • Work with the Channel Specialist to develop data and documents that allow the SVP and themselves to maximize time spent selling and closing
  • All other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • 10 years previous sales experience, preferably in CPG industry/beverage category
  • Ability to effectively interact, engage and communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to complete Top to Top level presentations individually
  • Strong communication, analytical, and negotiation/influencing skills
  • Must have proven business management experience within Dollar (Value) Channel Customers, broker management experience a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must have proven CPG private label sales management experience, beverage category a plus
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and influencing skills
  • Ability to complete Top to Top level presentations individually
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Minimum 50% travel required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
