THE ROLE 

Leading the marketing for Affordable Art Fair Austin, this role will oversee a year-round integrated marketing and PR campaign with a focus on driving quality footfall to the event with a high intent to purchase. Reporting to the Austin Fair Director and working in collaboration with global and local teams, the Marketing Manager will produce a strategy with innovative content to enhance our success in the city. 

 

THE COMPANY 

Founded 25 years ago, Affordable Art Fair is the largest organizer of popular art fairs in the world. This year, we host 16 fairs in 13 cities worldwide, including Austin, New York, London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Hamburg, Berlin, Stockholm, Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. In 2025, we will launch the first Affordable Art Fair in Vienna.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Working with the guidance of the Austin Fair Director, with support from the Global Marketing Team, the Marketing Manager will: 

 

STRATEGY 

  • Be accountable for execution of the Affordable Art Fair Austin marketing strategy, paid media budget and execution of all communications which includes, but not limited to PR agency, influencer contracts, partner contracts and grassroots adverts. 
  • Work in close contact with the Fair Director, Regional Managing Director and the Global Marketing team to ensure all plans are aligned and approved. 
  • Translate global objectives to ensure annual KPIs are reached locally. 
  • Develop the marketing, PR and brand strategies to raise awareness for Affordable Art Fair Austin fair, in alignment with the US brand style of communications (NYC Marketing) via learnings from other markets and global marketing advice and counsel.  
  • Analyze and use customer data insights to develop a year-round brand communications campaign, that will resonate with Austin’s consumption of cultural events.  
  • Build a customer development strategy through B2B outreach and grassroot efforts. 
  • Develop and implement ticketing strategy for audience growth and retention with the expectation of revenue growth year on year. 

 

MANAGEMENT 

  • Negotiate and book media adverts to drive maximum event footfall and brand awareness. 
  • Alongside the global marketing team, strategize, plan and support execution of the paid digital elements of the campaign including, PPC and paid social. 
  • Copywriting for all elements of the campaign with consideration to SEO, the local markets, and current events. 
  • Optimize and diversify the marketing budget to best serve each fair edition across PR, advertisements, print, photography, videography and social media. 
  • Cultivate relationships with exhibitors, partners and sponsors, especially on site at the fair, ensuring they continue to feel advocated for and promoted democratically throughout the full fair marketing campaign. 

 

DIGITAL CONTENT AND COMMUNICATIONS 

  • Define a customer contract strategy aimed at growing brand loyalty, year-round engagement, art-buying knowledge, and ticket sales during the fair campaign period.  
  • Develop and execute a content-rich marketing and communications campaign across all channels, including the website, print, email and social (Instagram, Facebook and others as required). N.B. While a year-round plan, it should pay particular importance to the fair campaign period. 
  • Oversee the Austin fair pages on the website in preparation for each fair edition, as well as build out the exhibitor listing, blogs, and various informational pages. 

 

TICKETING AND BOX OFFICE 

  • Build and manage the ticket shop for Affordable Art Fair Austin and any fair supporting events the team produces in Austin. 
  • Communicate and manage all events, refunds, equipment orders, issues, emails to attendees, and various other ticket-related duties. 
  • Coordinate the operations and logistics of Box Office management on site at the fair (e.g. setting up the space, ordering the appropriate equipment and helping train temporary staff). 
  • Oversee general ticketing and fair customer service in advance of (online), and in person at the fair. 

 

VIP AND GRASSROOTS STRATEGY 

  • Strategize and implement the grassroots program through research and networking amongst local Austin arts institutions, organizations, HNWIs, and patron groups. 
  • Use ticketing platform to create ticket code links to incentivize these selected organizations and Austin exhibitors to attend the fair either complimentary or at a discounted rate.  

 

BUDGETING AND REPORTING 

  • Fully accountable for each fair edition’s marketing budget as agreed with the Fair Director with accurate forecasts produced monthly. 
  • Carry out thorough post-event marketing analysis, providing insight into the results and actionable learnings for future editions.  
  • Analyze and assess codes and redemptions after the fair campaign to improve and expand our grassroots outreach for future editions. 
  • Assist the Fair Director in creating the Post-Fair Report for all ticketing, campaign and customer analysis. 


IDEAL EXPERIENCE 

  • B2C marketing experience with a history of growing brands in new markets. 
  • Experience of running multichannel digital and offline marketing campaigns. 
  • Experience of successfully managing and expanding social media channels. 
  • Experience of developing engaging copy and content for a target audience. 
  • Experience in relevant systems (or similar): WordPress, Active Campaign, Later.

TIMESCALE 

We are hoping to appoint the successful applicant as soon as possible.  

 

WORKING SCHEDULE 

Full time position of 40 hours per week and must be based in Austin. Work from home/hybrid schedule options available. Participation in additionally scheduled special events on some weekends and evenings required, specifically during the fair weeks. Travel approximately 10% of the year. 

 

SALARY 

Commensurate with experience in the range of $55,000-$70,000 with full health benefits, bonus opportunities and extensive vacation package. Please note: Ramsay Fairs, in good faith, believes that this posted rate of compensation is the accurate range for this role currently. This range may be modified in the future.
