Job Description Summary

The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the communications strategy for our functions and businesses. It’s an exciting role that makes an impact by driving storytelling, leveraging creativity and aligning messages across our campuses. This critical role focuses on the development of key messages and communications designed to support our people.

Duties/Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans and campaigns.
  • Ensure all Draper-wide initiatives, change management efforts, and projects are successfully communicated to all relevant audiences.
  • Coordinate communications goals, efforts, and strategies with respective communications areas and support departments to ensure consistency of message, timing, and delivery.
  • Work with various teams and departments to develop stories for the weekly newsletter.
  • Design, build and disseminate the newsletter to Draper audiences.
  • Continuously monitor, measure, and improve the effectiveness of communication initiatives using metrics and data insights where possible.
  • Work collaboratively across all levels of the company, from executive leaders to non-management employees, to gather information, analyze it and create content, articles, stories, talking points, presentations, etc. for relevant communication activities.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams, external vendors, and consultants to meet timelines and address any challenges and priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written communication skills, including editing skills and familiarity following guidelines (e.g., voice and tone guidelines, Style Guide standards)
  • Ability to manage projects and ensuring effective change management, while coordinating with others working towards the same outcome.
  • Able to develop and implement communications strategic plans and campaigns.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and engage and motivate teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to building relationships across multiple divisions.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio) and internal communications platforms such as Poppulo.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint content best practices, experience with survey and data collection/analysis.
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal customers, with a focus on customer service.

Education

Requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications, or relevant technical training and certifications.

Experience

Requires five to seven years of communications and project management experience.
