This position is hybrid - Tuesday - Thursday in the New York Office and Monday and Friday work from home.

We are seeking a Corporate Vice President, Strategic Businesses Communications, to join our team. Reporting to the VP and head of SB Communications, this individual will be responsible for developing and advancing a number of internal and external communications initiatives for the company’s Strategic Businesses, with a particular focus on supporting the Executive Vice President (EVP) and head of the Strategic Businesses. New York Life’s Strategic Businesses consist of: New York Life Group Benefit Solutions, Group Membership Association Division, Institutional Annuities, Institutional Life, New York Life Direct, New York Life Investment Management, and Seguros Monterrey New York Life.

Role Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Strategic Businesses Communications team, serve as a business partner to support both internal and external communications deliverables for a diverse set of businesses and leaders.
  • Contribute to and help execute communications plans that drive positive outcomes for New York Life’s Strategic Businesses; raise the overall profile of the businesses among various internal and external stakeholders; and deliver both proactive and reactive support.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute on, communications deliverables for the EVP and head of the Strategic Businesses, including various internal leadership communications deliverables (speaking points; small group meetings; town halls; etc.) and external opportunities, such as social media, earned media and speaking opportunities.
  • Write and edit various communications plans and materials, including leadership messages, press releases, intranet content, speaking points, video scripts, social media content, and presentations.
  • Help develop and expand measurement best practices, including gathering and interpreting metrics to ensure communications projects deliver results – this includes analyzing intranet usage statistics, preparing and delivering employee pulse-surveys, and helping to manage earned and social media metrics.
  • Refine and maintain a calendar of communications deliverables for the head of the Strategic Businesses.
  • Leverage feedback, best practices, and expertise to provide best-in-class communications support, including the testing, learning and onboarding of new GenAI capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Corporate Communications, including Corporate Design, Editorial, Digital, Video/Meetings, Content Strategy, and Employee Social Engagement.


Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of corporate communications experience, preferably in a Fortune 500 company and/or communications agency.
  • Expert and proactive client relationship manager, with experience providing advice and counsel to senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership, achievement, and excellence in a world-class organization.
  • Collaborative team player with executive presence and successful experience participating in high-profile cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization and operate within ambiguity is a must.
  • Experience with change management and culture change initiatives.
  • Proven track record managing people and developing effective teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent writing, listening, presentation and communications skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field.
  • Hybrid environment: Office Tuesday through Thursday, working from home Mondays and Fridays.


Salary range: $137,500-$237,500

Overtime eligible: Exempt
