Job Description

This is a hybrid role; this position will be based near one of our Myriad locations (Salt Lake City, Utah or Mason, Ohio) and depending upon location may be required to come into the office to provide onsite leadership, team support and engagement.


The Human Resources Sr Partner will be responsible for much of the operational work of the HRBP team including a strong focus on employee relations (ER), as well as supporting frontline managers with coaching, documentation, and processes. This critical role ensures that the HRBPs are fully supported with ER matters, investigations, manager coaching, and team project support.


This role provides support to the HRBP team and will act as the liaison to the centers of excellence within the People Team. The Human Resources Sr Partner will support managers in employee relations as well as general human resource functions. This position will also be responsible for supporting the team with data to drive leaders’ decisions and actions. The Human Resources Sr Partner role is an important member of the People Team due to their close knowledge of client groups by learning and building relationships with lower and mid-level management.


In this role, an ideal candidate will have an opportunity to work through complex interpersonal challenges, negotiations, and have influence across multi levels of leadership. Responsibilities for this role would include project/program management, identifying and providing analysis of patterns and behaviors, creating proactive and scalable solutions to enhance services the team delivers, such as ER matters and coaching.


Responsibilities

Working closely with business leadership, HRBPs and legal/compliance:

  • Acts as the first point of contact for managers and employees on employee relations issues.
  • Manages, investigates and resolves employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Responsible for ER documentation and management.
  • Appropriately assists employees with employment related concerns or complaints.
  • Along with the business leader, conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
  • Responds to questions from employees and/or management on human resource related issues, resolves or refers questions to include payroll, benefits, and general practices.
  • For more complex ER issues, the Human Resources Sr Partner will partner closely with the HRBP and legal.
  • Partners with the HRBP in support of their overall client group(s) through developing solutions to a variety of initiatives and exercising judgment on issues that support Myriad’s business objectives.
  • The Human Resources Sr Partner is the initial point of contact for the majority of HRBP support requests and has responsibility for evaluating and ensuring effective communication for team performance.
  • Prepares Excel documents, reports, and PowerPoints to assist the team with necessary documentation for leaders and report on progress of HR deliverables to the People team.
  • Oversees and administrates the 360 feedback tool for leaders.
  • Provides meaningful and timely feedback to management and the HRBP team.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability of decisions/recommendations made by People team when working with client groups.
  • Understands balancing responsibility for larger organization vs. acting as management/employee advocate.
  • Assist with updating and maintenance of the HR SharePoint site and other documents and systems as directed.
  • Assist with other human resources functions as necessary.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 5 plus years of experience in a human resources department focusing heavily on ER issues.
  • PHR Certification a plus.
  • Considerable knowledgeable of current state and federal employment laws will be important for this role.
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint will be a valuable skill in building collaborative tools and program management.
  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation, Unemployment, Benefit Administration, FMLA, and record keeping are required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong critical thinking skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution including a deep understanding of the complexities in employer/employee relations.
  • Competent in project management skills including execution and follow-up.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and act as a connector between parties providing the right balance between advising and resource delivery.

  • Demonstrated respect and value for diversity and inclusion.

  • Expertise in written and verbal communications, especially human resources and ER communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Experience managing and working in a HR database system. Knowledge in Oracle is a plus.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management in an energetic, high-pressure, time-sensitive work environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and manage workload effectively.
  • Must be analytical, flexible, innovative, and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to handle high level confidential information.
  • Must have the flexibility to work extra hours to meet corporate and departmental goals.
