About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the company's safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, and fostering a safety culture that prioritizes ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. You will report directly to our Director of Regulatory Affairs and Safety.


In this role you will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective safety processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop, implement and provide safety training and guidance to employees.
  • Lead company safety meetings, organize meeting agendas and minutes, and follow-up on assigned action items, as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, evaluate systems for process improvements, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Perform safety audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with safety standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Investigate EHS incidents and accidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and coordinate safety drills.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
  • Perform other safety related duties and special projects as assigned.


About you:

  • 7+ years of experience working in a safety management capacity.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Expertise with safety policy implementation and management.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE principles, risk assessments, and relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.


Key areas of expertise should include:

  • High voltage and electrical systems.
  • Hazmat and chemical management.
  • Waste stream management.
  • Machine shop safety.
  • Facility security.
  • Employee health, CPR and First Aid.


Bonus skills or experience:

  • Experience in health physics principles or radiation safety programs for particle accelerator facilities.
  • Possess the ability, training and experience to become an RSO in
  • Washington State.
  • Experience in the fusion industry, energy sector, or similarly regulated industries.
