Job Description

The Regional Account Manager is responsible for growing sales volume and market share of Applied Therapeutics, Inc.’s products within a specified geographic territory through business plans and execution that align with direction from commercial leadership and with all company guidelines, policies, and directives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through their passion for patients. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver sales performance, revenue and market share targets, brand KPIs, etc. to meet or exceed expectations while adhering to ethical sales practices, compliance guidelines, and promotional regulations
  • Effectively promote and educate physicians and their practices / office staff on Applied Therapeutics, Inc.’s products using company approved resources, sales materials, and promotional activities
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of Applied Therapeutics, Inc.’s products while handling objections and concerns
  • Develop and maintain superior relationships with key decision makers and influencers in the patient journey to identify new patients and drive product demand, including with MDs, RNs, NPs, PAs, PharmDs, MAs, office staff, etc. within physician offices and hospitals and opportunistically
  • Continuously build and maintain expert knowledge of customer, territory, market dynamics, product, competitors, disease state, and evolving market trends. Leverage this knowledge to refine business plans and establish strong relationships as a trusted advisor
  • Work cross functionally with Medical, Market Access, Marketing, Advocacy, etc. to address and resolve concerns promptly as they arise (e.g., product quality, access, reimbursement, distribution, etc.)
  • Share market intelligence to optimize brand strategy and execution
  • Leverage sales data to inform performance opportunities to maximize sales in territory and inform business plans. Drive resource allocation for greatest return on investment.
  • Represent Applied Therapeutics, Inc. at industry functions and events to position the company as a trusted advisor and committed partner
  • Travel as needed throughout territory (may include overnights)
  • Report and submit sales calls, reports, activities and territory expenses timely and accurately as directed by leadership
  • Maintain accountability and strict adherence to RRD, FDA and OIG guidelines at all times
  • Act in full compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies including adverse events / pharmacovigilance responsibilities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Health Sciences, Business, Marketing, Accounting, or related field
  • Pharma/biotech Sales experience (7+ years preferred), with consistent success in driving above-plan sales results within a specific region/territory
  • Rare/Orphan (Specialty Product) sales experience required (4+ years preferred, including multiple disease states and/or product launches)
  • Proficiency in working with specialty drugs via a HUB distribution model is preferred
  • Metabolic, endocrinology, and/or genetic disorder experience is preferred
  • Product launch experience, preferably at small to mid-size companies is preferred
  • Proven track record of successful performance – must have documentation - national awards
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to form strong, trusting partnerships to drive performance
  • Highly adept in both verbal & written communication; applies advanced presentation skills for the delivery of corporate approved materials – ability to proactively identify customer’s style / behavior and quickly adapt selling approach
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools to identify trends, opportunities, and threats and develop refined territory/region business plans. Possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities. Offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities to address challenges
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitor; recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders
  • Builds collaborative partnerships and operates effectively in a matrix environment; expert collaboration with cross-functional partners, including marketing, training, operations, advocacy, medical, etc.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected role model and resource among peers
  • Consistently displays positive attitude through challenges and change
  • Familiar with legal and regulatory environment; operates compliantly at all times
  • Meet all requirements for health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing to gain entry into facilities and organizations that are in your assigned territory. These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases
  • Possess valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Up to 60% (dependent on geography) travel expectation - overnight travel may be required

Additional Information

At Applied Therapeutics, Inc., we are passionate about our mission to create transformative, life-changing treatments for patients with fatal or debilitating diseases with no approved therapies who desperately need them. We target pathways with known roles in pathogenesis and develop novel compounds with improved potency and selectivity. Our lead product candidate, govorestat (also called AT-007), is an investigational, novel Aldose Reductase Inhibitor (ARI) being developed for the treatment of several rare diseases, including Galactosemia, SORD Deficiency and PMM2-CDG. Govorestat is a potent and selective compound, which crosses the blood brain barrier into the Central Nervous System (CNS penetrant) that has received Orphan Medicinal Product Designation from the EMA, and both Orphan Drug and Pediatric Rare Disease designations from the FDA for the treatment of Galactosemia, a rare metabolic disease, and PMM2-CDG. A New Drug Application (NDA) for govorestat has been accepted for priority review with the FDA and the Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) has been validated and is currently being reviewed by the EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) for the treatment of Galactosemia. Additionally, govorestat is currently in pivotal-stage development for the treatment of SORD Deficiency.
