Requirements

The Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy is a non-academic program established to better connect students with the political process and empower them to make it work better. Driven by a belief that better understanding can lead to more civil and productive politics, GU Politics offers a series of programs on the Hilltop Campus and Capitol Campus focused on practical and applied politics that offers students opportunities to directly engage with leading members of the political, governmental, journalism, and advocacy communities.

Duties

The Digital Communications and Content Manager will work closely with the Managing Director to develop and implement a digital communications strategy. S/he is responsible for drafting content that tells a cohesive story that engages targeted audiences in the Institute’s programming. This position is a member of a small collaborative team and will interact with students as well as the Institute’s fellows and special guests. Reporting to the Managing Director, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Draft and publish newsletters and email communications to engage GU Politics’ programming to various audiences (both internal and external).
  • Write and publish website content to keep the website fresh and up to date, producing promotional materials for events, student activities, and programs.
  • Create video products and other multimedia to contribute to GU Politics’ digital media library.
  • Provide technical support to student leaders on various multimedia projects, including podcasts and video series.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to execute a communications strategy across digital platforms, managing GU Politics’ digital media library and organizing content on various platforms.
  • Work with colleagues to develop and maintain an editorial calendar for GU Politics programming.
  • Oversee website integration with third-party applications and university-wide systems, monitoring and measuring press and social media engagement.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years of experience in a political or public service organization, journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Graphic design and video editing experience
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
  • Understanding of modern political campaigning and government is essential
  • Experience with photography is a plus

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
