The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) has been helping businesses support biodiversity for 35 years. To support WHC’s growth and innovation, WHC is looking for a dynamic Manager of Content to join our collaborative team and help us captivate and engage corporate audiences. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will play a key role in transforming sustainability/conservation concepts into compelling, accessible stories without compromising scientific accuracy. This is primarily a writing/editing position. Specific Responsibilities
- Lead writer and editor for WHC content and client deliverables including white papers, webinars, presentations, reports, brochures and guides.
- Create and curate content that attracts and converts target audiences, including press releases, blogs, web content, social media and email marketing.
- Manage WHC social media channels.
- Develop projects from concept to completion using research and other resources to inform content.
- Act as WHC Webinar co-producer including on-air responsibilities and tech management.
- Art direct and/or create graphic assets to complement content creation.
- Maintain knowledge of business trends in key member industries, as well as in the areas of sustainability, biodiversity, conservation and STEM and environmental education.
- Act as brand champion, ensuring integrity of the brand, tone and voice across all publications, events and departments.
- At least 2 years of experience in a corporate or non-profit environment in a writing, editing or marketing capacity
- Excellent and proven writing, editing and proofreading skills (writing samples required)
- Thorough research skills with the ability to absorb new subject matter around business and conservation
- Good presentation skills
- Social media experience in a professional setting
- Attention to detail and respect for deadlines is part of your work ethic
- Ability to work collaboratively, engaging with WHC staff members on client deliverables
- A deep understanding and appreciation of aesthetics as they relate to content and branding
- Intermediate to advanced-level proficiency with common technology tools including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
- Experience in Adobe Creative applications, specifically InDesign, with the interest to grow this skill
- Ability to mirror WHC’s values and associated competencies internally and externally
Work Environment
The position is included in WHC’s dispersed workforce plan, providing the employee a choice to work out of the organization’s Bethesda, MD office or from home. This position is mostly office based, with limited physical work. Occasional travel for internal events (staff retreats, WHC Conservation Conference, or similar) is expected. This position includes some light physical work.
