Position Purpose

The Director of Applications Support is responsible for the availability and provision of development, testing, implementation, configuration management, and interface/interdependency management of systems and applications that support the Veolia North America businesses.

The position also operates a team of Subject Matter Experts (SME) in Life Cycle Application Management and oversees all activities relating to the enhancements and support of the business applications. The primary key applications include Oracle (PeopleSoft and/or CC&B), MuleSoft, Asset Management, Operational Technology, and Support Function applications.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage the creation, refinement, execution, and governance of KPIs supporting the applications managed by the team.
  • Report against KPIs by measuring how successful the team performs against key performance metrics.
  • Strategically plan, operate, and manage the applications whilst providing an acceptable level of service.
  • Build and plan change and release management for applications under your domain.
  • Manage key vendor relationships for the management of the applications.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks to the underlying infrastructure and systems.
  • Develop and manage contingency recovery plans and exercises to restore all operations timely.
  • Manage projects allocated to the team including the internal/external resources, timelines, budget, and risks.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and cyber threats to the applications.
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and staff satisfaction by increasing IT's value through innovation and emerging technologies.
  • Manage and mentor associates on training and professional development.
  • Build relationships with senior operational partners across the business.
  • Coordinate the workloads to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Play a leadership role on projects & new initiatives.
  • Drive the development of analytical models to forecast and understand short- and long-term trends.
  • Other duties as required or directed to ensure the achievement of the position across.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, or a related field with 7 years of experience in a computer science, technology service, or management information systems environment at a minimum.
  • Master's Degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, or a related field with 5 years of experience in a computer science, technology service, or management information systems environment is a preferred.
  • Understanding of industry-standard frameworks including but not limited to ITIL, COBIT or PMP/ Prince2 preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • 10+ years of experience in Applications implementation or lifecycle development; demonstrated experience in planning, documenting, validating and testing technical solutions.
  • Extensive experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Strong applications background with proven experience delivering application implementation or upgrade projects.
  • Strong ITIL and service management experience around application management.
