This job contributes to Starbucks success by developing, optimizing and executing on our go-to-market process to achieve our goal of customer-centered marketing across all channels. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and flawless execution of complex creative projects and programs; while focusing on automation and creative operations including but not limited to processes, tools, systems, etc. This position will also influence individuals and teams to adopt new ways of work that deliver agility, continuous improvement, collaboration and a growth mindset to our creative practice, enabling us to effectively and efficiently scale communications.

As a group manager, Creative Operations, you will…

  • Oversee the development of integrated plans that include deliverables, strategic alignment, enterprise-wide impacts, milestones, risks, assumptions, constraints and overall investment.
  • Ensure creative requirements, audience data and creative direction are clearly communicated to operations teams, acting as liaison for multiple functional areas.
  • Ensure team members understand and work toward accomplishing the business vision, goals and program objectives.
  • Maintain ongoing familiarity with existing marketing & creative technology tools & processes to oversee execution of day to day creative, content & production design projects.
  • Leads the development of creative operational models including processes, tools, systems, resourcing, etc. including coaching the team to continuously look for improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with marketing and other cross-functional stakeholders as thought partner in campaign planning, consulting on solution approaches and providing input to marketing plans in order to fully leverage existing tools, capabilities & efficiency.
  • Collaborate across stakeholder teams to develop and create operational business requirements for the development of new creative processes, tools & systems.
  • Drive operational business requirements for the development of new creative processes, capabilities, tools and systems. Oversee validation of new capabilities, features and tools.
  • Recruit, build and lead a high-performing team, inspire others and gain organizational momentum. Lead via influence, persuasion, negotiation and effective communications and build relationships effectively.
  • Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the team promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership and teamwork.
  • Clear roadblocks and escalate on behalf of the team to ensure issues are resolved, as needed.
  • Has a mastery level of Marketing, Marketing Technology, Product and Creative functions.
  • Build highly collaborative and trusting relationship with internal partners and external suppliers/vendors.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership support to team members; inspiring them to achieve business results.
  • Foster positive team energy, manage team expectations and work collaboratively to find creative solutions when problems arise.
  • Partner with Marketing and Technology teams to develop long-term strategic roadmaps for the Starbucks menu domain to impact business OKRs.
  • Lead business stakeholder for the implementation of menu content innovation initiatives to support automation and AI-driven menu content experiences.
  • Support the Creative Operations team in practicing Agile and Product Owner methods that drive continuous incremental value and efficiency.

We’d love to Hear From People With

  • BA/BS with concentration in business, marketing, technology or similar field
  • Track record of mapping marketing strategy to specific use cases and measurable deliverables (8 years)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with product and engineering to plan and delivery technology solutions with an emphasis on continuous improvement and a test-and-learn mindset (8 years)
  • Retail industry experience in marketing technology, with a record of successfully delivering complex solutions that meet strategic objectives (4-6 years)
  • Effective at establishing shared goals for cross-functional teams and influencing cross-functionally to achieve them.
  • Strong problem solving, influencing and analytical skills and an ability to think outside the box to achieve results.
  • Compelling presentation skills, persuasive and succinct oral, written and email skills.
  • Proven technical understanding, with ability to grasp new technologies & concepts quickly. Interest in technology & digital innovation to solve complex customer and marketer problems.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience as a product owner or program manager
  • 8+ years of experience working across technology and marketing organizations
  • 6+ years of project management experience
  • 6+ years of management and team development experience
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud product (Adobe Experience Manager Assets experience is a plus!)
  • Agile Product Owner or Lumen Certification a plus!

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
