While much of our traditional business stems from our retail distribution and partner relationships, we have a growing direct-to-consumer business that requires a keen understanding of consumers and the ability to create innovative and engaging experiences. We are seeking a Sr. Director, Global Design to lead a multidisciplinary team, creating compelling product experiences across the digital channels where we compete.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will partner with the product and product development teams to evaluate new business opportunities and innovations that differentiate and grow BHN’s core business. Most importantly, you will lead the effort to increase the network and lifetime value of consumers who shop and interact across our global network.

You will be expected to operate with the highest standards of integrity and possess strategic and financial acumen to understand the impact of decisions on business economics. You should know how to apply design thinking and operate within an agile product development model. It will be critical for you to leverage data and customer insights, validated through iteration, research, and user testing.

Other expectations for this role include aiding the transition from enterprise to SMB buying segments. BHN supports many of the largest organizations in the world; however, its user experiences and product platforms are transitioning to support more self-service experiences. The design leader will play a critical role in this transition and will be expected to understand small businesses in the 39 markets in which we operate.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve and position global design as a leader within BHN and the payments industry.
  • Distill abstract business concepts and client needs into elegant creative solutions, including the ability to inspire and present a clear vision to senior leadership, clients, and members of the creative team.
  • Demonstrate strong people management and leadership skills to hire, develop, and inspire the creative team.
  • Ensure alignment of creative output/visuals with the overall brand.
  • Generate user research to identify UX and market opportunities, influencing strategy at the product and platform levels.
  • Build and evangelize design thinking across design, product, and engineering, representing design and user experience across the company’s leadership.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of digital product design and leadership experience, including end-to-end execution, with a proven track record from B2B to B2C, one-time to repeated usage, innovation to iteration, and web to mobile app experiences.
  • 8+ years of experience as a senior-level designer or User Researcher, directing complex solutions for digital products.
  • Strong business sense and a desire to partner deeply with business stakeholders to understand and support our various revenue streams.
  • Experience with modern product development processes: agile, lean, iterative, outcome-oriented, data-driven (A/B testing), and user research-informed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, especially across borders and with teams in different geographic locations.
  • A solid grasp of art history, design history, photography and the visual arts, pop culture and counterculture, fluency in current technology and politics, and a deep understanding of the zeitgeist of social tastes and current affairs.

Benefits

Salary Range for California Residents Only: $205,420 to $287,600

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2024, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
