Are you a skilled writer with a strong design thinking mindset, who is passionate about storytelling, problem-solving, and advocating for the customer? Our client, a global financial tech company, is seeking a Technical Writer to join their team! As Technical Writer, you will collaborate with UX Designers, Product Owners, and Researchers on enhancing customer experiences by improving content comprehension. You will focus on updating existing content to meet UK Consumer Duty standards, ensuring compliance and clarity for users. The Technical Writer must be comfortable with both big-picture strategy and detailed content creation, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel in independent work and collaboration.


Portfolio Note: In order to be considered, candidates must have 4+ years' professional writing experience, with proven ability to: re-write with an eye towards simplification and plain language, create content and re-write for a wide range of audiences, solve problems and ask important questions.


You Will:

  • Distill complex information into clear, concise, and accessible content
  • Work on back book of existing content
  • Work on one core project but with multiple product teams
  • Be included in morning meetings with broader UK team (PM, lead, etc.) discussing status update of where things are at with the project
  • Work meticulously through content that has been put through an intelligibility tool, using Figma, Word, and other writing tools to do uplift work
  • Coordinate with existing documentation, setting up meetings as a result
  • Think about how to simplify content for users to understand
  • Have a fair amount of discernment around whether tools are working properly and make the most sense and determine what is needed for best outcome


You Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Design, Information Science or related fields is preferred
  • 4+ years of professional writing experience
  • Fluency in written English
  • Excellent, highly creative writing and critical-thinking skills
  • Experience working with content standards, such as style and voice and tone guidelines
  • At ease contributing to multiple projects, setting stakeholder expectations, working individually and collaborating across teams
  • Ability to re-write with eye towards plain language, simplification
  • Ability to create content and re-write for a wide range of audiences
  • Experience in financial services, payments, B2B or B2C e commerce (preferred)
  • Figma training / worked with AI writing copilot tools (preferred)
  • Problem solving skills, willingness to call things out and ask questions


Logistics:

  • Projected Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Hours/Week: 40 hours per week
  • Onsite/offsite: Remote, but must live in CST or EST
  • Background Check needed? Yes, must clear before contract starts
  • Pay Rate: up to $55 per hour // DOE
