AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION

Type of position: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Position Status: Permanent

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, with occasional work hours in the evenings and on weekends

Location: Liberal Arts Campus (LAC), but will also support the Trades, Technology, and Community Learning Campus (TTC)

Salary: $86,743.56 - $107,065 Annually

Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications

Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under direction, performs a variety of complex duties in the planning, development, and execution of in-studio, field, and live video/web streaming production assignments; performs a full range of pre-production and post-production activities for event documentation and promotional and public information programming; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Media Producer is responsible for carrying out a wide variety of studio and field video production assignments of varying scope and levels of sophistication. The incumbent plans, organizes resources and executes assignments for digital video productions for informational/outreach productions and broadcast. The incumbent plans, organizes and sets up for multi-camera field productions of live sports coverage, college graduation and other special events such as dance productions, music concerts and live broadcasts. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

Education, Training And Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a major in communications, television production or a closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible video/audio production experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in live/web streaming production and the use of broadcast quality and high-end production equipment is preferred.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Test parts are determined by the size and competitiveness of the candidate pool.

Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations.
