Job Overview: Quality Managers in DMS hold employees accountable for safety awareness and adherence to proper safety procedures as outlined in DMOS. They reduce customer disruptions and train to the process IATF-16949 standard. They also are responsible for improving incoming quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes a safe work environment
  • Directs team leaders and direct labor with respect to production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates
  • Stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of production workers
  • Confers with the production manager (and on occasion the Director of Manufacturing), Production Planner and shop floor production control personnel to establish working schedules for all departments connected with sales targets
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices
  • Recommends the hiring and releasing of inspector personnel as required to maintain production schedule
  • Assures that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production
  • Schedules overtime as required
  • Arranges to have appropriate production records prepared and maintained
  • Must maintain good employee relations and adherence policy and procedures, takes proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required
  • Keeps records of departmental activities as required
  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department
  • Establishes accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation through department and supervisory objectives
  • Daily contact with assigned department supervisors and other manufacturing personnel.
  • Dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, bore indicators, profilometers, bores scopes, etc.
  • Take precision measurements.  Must possess math skills and have good reading comprehension ability
  • Interpret certifications, specifications and complex engineering drawings
  • Must be able to make decisions, communicate effectively and work with others
  • As applicable, owns Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality Management, and/or Management Systems per TS/IATF 16949 standards.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Management or equivalent work experience
  • Ten years of directly related experience, with at least five years of experience as a supervisor
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • Experience generating inspection plans, first article inspection reports and recording measurement
  • GD & T experience
  • CMM experience preferred
