Director - Organizational Development

Specific Responsibilities

The Director of Learning and Organizational Development for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Administration pillar, reporting to the VP of Human Resources. The Director of Organizational Development will spearhead initiatives in learning and development, succession planning, employee awards and recognition, performance management, and project management. This role focuses on driving organizational effectiveness through strategic workforce development, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, and implementing organizational development strategies that align with the company’s goals and values.

Learning and Development:

  • Design and implement comprehensive learning and development strategies aligned with the organization’s strategy and goals to enhance employee skills, performance, and job satisfaction.
  • Facilitate high-impact leadership development programs to prepare high-potential employees for future leadership roles within the organization.
  • Oversee the learning management system (LMS) to ensure efficient delivery, tracking, and reporting of all training and development activities.
  • Evaluate and enhance training programs based on feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.

Strategic Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and senior leadership to align organizational development strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Communicate organizational development initiatives and progress to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and develop scalable solutions that support the growth and development of employees across all levels of the organization.

Succession Planning:

  • Design and lead succession planning processes to identify and prepare high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
  • Collaborate with executive management to assess talent gaps and develop strategic development plans for critical roles.
  • Facilitate talent reviews, ensuring succession plans align with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Performance Management:

  • Lead the design and implementation of the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Coach and support managers in conducting effective performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Develop tools and resources to enhance employee performance and development.

Organizational Development:

  • Conduct organizational assessments to identify improvement areas and develop interventions to address them.
  • Lead the assessment of organizational needs and the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that facilitate professional development and continuous learning.
  • Lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the organization.

Project Management:

  • Direct organizational development projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely, within-scope, and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop project plans and define scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Oversee cross-functional team collaboration to execute projects, track progress, and resolve issues.
  • Report on project performance and outcomes to stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in organizational development, with a proven track record in learning and development, succession planning, and project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, human resources, business administration, or related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement a learning architecture that supports scalable and effective learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing employee engagement and recognition strategies.
  • Strong project management capabilities with a history of successful project delivery.
  • Certification in relevant areas (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, PMP, CPLP) is highly desirable.
