Our Values and Leadership Behaviors

The Director of Accounting is responsible for managing the accounting team, the monthly close and reconciliation process, period-end financial reporting and the execution of internal controls (SOX readiness and compliance). The position is also responsible for overseeing continuous business improvements through better systems, processes and procedures. Additionally, the Director of Accounting is responsible for audit coordination and oversight with the Company’s external auditors. This position reports to the ecoATM CFO and partners closely with other functional areas throughout the company to ensure proper financial reporting and relevant support of Company business initiatives. This position is remote with occasional travel to the corporate office in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting staff and the month-end close and reporting process for the Company’s consolidated operations
  • Prepare analysis of and impact on the Company of new accounting pronouncements or the application of existing accounting pronouncements to new business initiatives or transactions
  • Drive an efficient month-end close process identifying process improvements in order to shorten the close
  • Supervise staff in the preparation and review of account reconciliations and other relevant schedules
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing variance analysis (comparison to forecast, prior year, trend, etc.)
  • Assist in training, mentoring and developing the Accounting staff
  • Key business partner to several departments throughout the company to give accounting guidance as it relates to business operations and transactions
  • Key process control owner in the Company’s financial governance and compliance (including SOX compliance)
  • Support and manage development of system improvements and enhancements (e.g. manage the team re: development of business and functional requirements, UAT and post-launch issue resolution)

Education & Experience

  • BA Business, Accounting or related field required
  • CPA required
  • 7+ years of general accounting experience required; experience in a public company and/or in public accounting
  • 5+ years’ supervisory experience including a demonstrated ability to delegate, provide guidance and develop a team
  • Experience with mid to large ERP systems required; Oracle preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, CPA preferred
  • Big 4 experience plus industry experience desired
  • High integrity, strong technical accounting and analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Well organized with ability to perform multiple tasks and work with other functional areas of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Pay Range (How much might you earn in your base salary?)

$149,780.00 - $187,225.00

This position is also be eligible for short-term and long-term incentives based on individual and company performance.
