Registrar, Emergency Room

The Registrar, Emergency Room schedules, greets, and registers the patients in a courteous and professional manner. The Registrar verifies insurance benefits, checks for authorization, pre-certification, physician order accuracy, and referral necessity.

Essential Functions

• Obtains patients signatures for required forms and collects patient financial responsibility when required.
• Utilizes appropriate and professional verbal communication skills when conversing with patients and other internal and external customers on the telephone and in person to convey a high level of personal attention and promote customer satisfaction.
• Maintains up-to-date and accurate knowledge of insurance and managed care plans. Reads insurance memos and bulletins, maintains files and utilizes online insurance tools to assist patients and ensure the correct handling of payer information.
• Accurately records and verifies all patient information when interviewing patients/representatives to assure completeness of patient records.
  
  
  

Schedule Monday through Friday, from 300 pm - 1130 pm, and every other weekend.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED Over 6 months to 1 year Patient Access/Admissions, Call Center and/or Customer Service Experience in a Hospital, Health Facility, or Medical Office Setting required
