The American Heart Association has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager, Emerging Strategies who will focus on the ongoing operation of the Emerging Strategies department . The resource will develop and oversee department plans, budgets, resources, or vendors and ensure the programs meet stated objectives. The Operations Manager will monitor performance and processes and recommend changes, adjustments and any resource additions that might be needed.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on June 30, 2028, with the possibility of extension. This position can be home based.

The Operations Manager is expected to be an experienced professional responsible for active oversight and prioritization of departmental administrative, budget and operational activities, including contracting process oversight, and creating detailed reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the Emerging Strategies department budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure alignment within budgetary constraints
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and forecasts, providing insights to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Coordinate and manage logistics for meetings, events, and other program activities, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with project objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with Emerging Strategies leadership, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with grant timelines and project milestones.
  • Key liaison to project and program management teams for administrative support functions, standardizing and scaling common business support functions across teams.
  • Develops and implements standardized and centralized department administrative processes to maximize efficiency and utilization of resources.
  • Collaborate with national staff and external partners, conducting ongoing meetings to ensure project deliverables are met within established timelines and quality standards.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with budgeting and reporting processes. Expertise in handling sponsorships and managing restricted gifts, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and optimizing financial performance.
  • Experience in coordinating meetings and event logistics for C-suite executives, including high-profile engagements and complex schedules, ensuring seamless execution and superior stakeholder experience.
  • Strong understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), with the ability to develop, monitor, and analyze metrics to drive operational excellence and strategic decision-making.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with executives, cross-functional teams, and staff at all levels to foster collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.
  • High adaptability and resilience, with the capacity to quickly respond to dynamic challenges and shifting priorities, ensuring that initiatives remain aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Robust risk management acumen, including the ability to anticipate, assess, and mitigate risks, safeguarding the organization’s operational integrity and financial health.
  • Proven ability to manage strict deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational skills and a results-oriented mindset to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes within time constraints.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of operational management, from planning to execution.
  • Comprehensive project management expertise, with a track record of driving successful initiatives from conception through completion.


Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $65,000.00 to $90,000.00 Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
