The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Medical Affairs, the Director, Medical Communications & Information will be responsible for development and implementation of medical communications strategies and tactical plans in support of products and development assets across Nuvalent’s portfolio. You will provide oversight, lead, and manage scientific publications, omni channel scientific communications, medical content creation, and medical education initiatives. You will be responsible for developing, establishing, and managing Nuvalent’s medical Information process and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and standardization of key Medical Communications and Medical Information policies, processes, and operating procedures.
  • Lead development and execution of the medical communication strategy across Nuvalent’s portfolio, including managing publication committee, publication plan, medical communication plan, and content generation plan.
  • Foster collaboration across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Corporate Communications, Program Management, and appropriate Commercial teams to ensure strategic alignment across medical communications plans and tactics.
  • Lead development and management of a scientific platform for each product to drive consistency across all related medical communication materials and channels.
  • Develop and facilitate external and internal medical education plan including overseeing successful review, approval, and funding of appropriate continuing medical education (CME) and sponsorship.
  • Oversee the development of disease state and product-specific medical materials such as slide decks, digital materials, training materials, and publication extenders with vendors and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Develop medical congress strategy and collaborate across Medical Affairs and Clinical Development functions to ensure tactical execution of key congress initiatives.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of medical communications trends, best practices, and the evolving medical communications landscape to deliver best-in-class programs.
  • Establish and implement Nuvalent’s Medical Information capabilities, process, policies, and management including identifying, onboarding, and managing a Medical Information Call Center
  • Lead development of standard and customized medical information content to fulfill unsolicited Medical Information requests in a timely, accurate, thorough, and scientifically balanced manner.
  • Serve as a Medical Information resource for internal business partners.
  • Responsible for the development of Medical Information materials for internal business partners (e.g., technical response documents, frequently asked questions) that are accurate, relevant, and scientifically balanced.
  • Develop annual Medical Communications & Information tactical plan and aligned budget- monitor and manage the assigned budget and relationships with vendors to deliver projects in alignment with timelines and defined objectives.

Qualifications

  • Advanced, medical / scientific doctoral level degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD.
  • 10 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech Industry with Medical Affairs.
  • 5 years of experience of managing Medical Communications and/or Medical Information teams.
  • Global product launch experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in solid tumor oncology
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing publications, medical communications, education, and content creation plans.
  • Experience establishing and managing a Medical Information Process or Call Center.
  • Demonstrated experience developing Medical Information materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing scientific communications, publications, and medical information vendors.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of medical communications trends, best practices, and the evolving medical communications landscape.
  • Experience in identifying, on-boarding, and managing a Medical Information Call Center.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements for Medical Communications and Medical Information personnel and PhRMA guidelines, including geographic regulatory related guidelines.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Up to 20% domestic travel
