JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing strategic business communications efforts for this Major League team. The role involves establishing and nurturing relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, as well as with key stakeholders both within and outside the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation and execution of strategic communication plans for business, community, and Foundation announcements and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with media representatives to enhance media coverage opportunities.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization on business and community matters when necessary.
- Manage the business communications team and other staff members as needed.
- Formulate a strategic approach for creating press materials related to business activities, including press kits, press releases, story pitches, and talking points.
- Implement and manage media outreach efforts through various initiatives, hospitality, and events.
- Build strong connections with heads of internal departments to ensure coordinated efforts across all initiatives.
- Organize and facilitate interviews and media opportunities focusing on business and community initiatives.
- Produce and write editorial content for publications and the website, highlighting business and community activities and initiatives.
- Complete any additional tasks as required.
- At least four years of relevant experience in the communications field, preferably within professional or collegiate sports, or a comparable sector.
- Exceptional skills in written, verbal, and phone communication.
- Independent and proactive, with the ability to multitask with little supervision.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
- High level of personal responsibility and ownership of tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
- Excellent time management and organizational capabilities.
- Attention to detail, with a strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
- Availability to work during games, events, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, including when the team is traveling.
- A keen interest in pursuing a career in the sports industry and a willingness to learn.
- Knowledgeable about baseball, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
- Effective in following and implementing directions.
