Sr Director, Venues Financial Planning & Analysis

Job Summary

In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis team supporting our venues, providing valuable insights to our cross functional team to reach our short and long-term financial goals, and acting as a key liaison between Topgolf’s central support office and the field. Your expertise will be instrumental in elevating our financial planning and analysis team, ensuring accurate short and long-term outlooks, strong cross functional partnership to reach our objectives, seamless consolidation of the results, forecast and budget for our Topgolf venues, and effective communication of performance, risks, and opportunities to our internal and external stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in guiding our decision-making processes and empowering us to achieve compelling venue economics.

Essential Functions

  • Performance Insights: Transform data and information into insights that inform high-level strategy and tactical decision-making in support of revenue and profitability targets. Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability assessments, and scenario modeling. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the entire P&L (sales, COGS, labor, other operating expenses) and communicate actionable insights to senior management and our operators. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to monitor and drive the venues’ unit economics and player experience. Partner with our business intelligence teams to develop and disseminate performance metrics and dashboards
  • Financial Planning and Forecasting: Lead the development and execution of the financial planning process, including annual budgets, short and long-term forecasts, and strategic plans for our Topgolf venues.
  • Budget Management: Work closely with our operations team to establish targets, monitor actual performance, conduct monthly variance analysis and recommend cost control measures and sales driving initiatives to drive compelling unit economics
  • Business Partnership: Serve as a key thought partner to the cross functional teams (e.g., operations, commercial, marketing, etc.) supporting the venues, providing strategic guidance and financial analysis support. Collaborate to evaluate the impact of our growth initiatives. Foster a collaborative culture and ensure financial alignment throughout the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in financial planning processes and tools, forecasting and reporting methodologies, and analysis techniques. Automate reporting, implement best practices and leverage emerging technologies to improve processes.
  • Team Leadership: Provide proactive leadership, developing team members as well as visibly influencing cross-functional partners and key stakeholders as an effective advocate for change and growth


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years financial planning and analysis or related roles in a multi-unit company, with increasing levels of responsibility and track record of delivering transformation
  • 7+ years' Experience managing, mentoring, and improving teams
  • 7+ years' Experience utilizing financial planning software, such as Anaplan
  • 7+ years' Experience working in a public company where there is a high regard for forecasting accuracy to inform guidance
  • 5+ years Expert-level Excel and modeling skills
  • 2+ years Prior hospitality or retail industry experience a plus, but not required
  • 2+ years' Experience in M&A and valuation activities

  • Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of GAAP principles, financial concepts, including financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and valuation. Ability to analyze complex financial data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Business Partnership & Communication: Proven experience in building strong relationships with business partners and senior executives. Strong facilitation and negotiation skills. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Results Oriented & Continuous Improvement: Results oriented with high regard for accuracy & quality while balancing timelines. Resourceful with a thirst for improving processes and tools
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in financial planning and analysis tools and systems. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, financial reporting tools, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing circumstances, navigate ambiguity and deliver against timelines
