Key Responsibilities
- Strategy and Vision: Develop and execute a comprehensive UX strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives. Continuously evolve the UX vision to anticipate industry trends, technological advancements, and user needs.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of UX professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning. Provide guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to empower team members to excel in their roles.
- Product Design: Oversee the end-to-end design process, from concept ideation to implementation, ensuring that our products deliver intuitive workflows, visually appealing interfaces, and seamless interactions from design through copy. Champion user-centered design principles and advocate for the needs of our diverse user base.
- User Research: Drive a user-centric approach to product development by managing a research group tasked with developing a user research approach and program including in-depth research, user interviews, usability testing, and data analysis. Work with tax.com leadership to incorporate insights gathered from user feedback to inform design decisions and prioritize feature enhancements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders to align UX initiatives with business objectives and development timelines. Act as a key advocate for the user throughout the product lifecycle.
- UX Governance: Establish and maintain standards, guidelines, and best practices for UX design and usability across all products and platforms. Ensure consistency and coherence in the user experience while allowing for flexibility and innovation.
- Metrics and Optimization: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring the effectiveness of UX initiatives and tracking user engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Use data-driven insights to iterate on designs and continuously improve the user experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Psychology, or a related field. MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years in a UX design with at least 6 years experience in a leadership role overseeing UX design and research within a SaaS or technology-driven organization.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, interaction design, and usability best practices.
- Strong portfolio showcasing successful UX design projects across web and mobile platforms, with an emphasis on complex workflows and enterprise applications. Experiencing developing and implementing design systems is highly encouraged.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts, present findings, and build consensus among cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in an agile development environment, collaborating with product management and engineering teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within scope.
- Design: Figma, Balsamiq, InVision, UXPin, Framer.js, Quartz Composer, or the like are required
- User research and testing tools: Experience with research and testing tools such as Qualtrics, Maze, UserTesting or similar is required
- Web analytics: Understanding of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Amplitude, MixPanel is preferred

- Occasional extended periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the firm and with external vendors and clients as needed.
- Independent travel requirement: up to 10%.
- The base salary hiring range for this position is $175,000 - $260,150
